2020 PFD President’s Speech

We know that everyone will be missing the 2020 PFD, which was planned for tonight. In place, President Hartnett has recorded his welcome speech which you can view here:

Tony Corr OAM

The VAFAUA extends its congratulations to Tony Corr, who has been acknowledged in the 2020 Australia Day Honours. Tony received the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to cricket, with a lifelong commitment to his beloved Highett West CC.

This honour follows countless others, including the Cricket Victoria 50 Years of Service award, and induction into the Hall of Fame in the South East Cricket Association in 2017.

Tony’s commitment to local sport is phenomenal, and we are lucky to count him as one of our members.

Congratulations Tony!

Chuck’s Wedding

Congratulations to VAFAUA Life Member Wayne ‘Chuck’ Hinton, who wed his lovely bride Alina on Saturday 18 January. Chuck was ably supported by umpiring royalty for groomsmen, with Rob Sneddon and Mark Gibson standing by his side along with AFL Grand Final umpire John Russo as best man.

Another member of umpiring royalty, Glen James, gave a welcome to country at the reception.

We were able to round up just a few of the UA members for a photo at the reception.

Congratulations Wayne and Alina, and we wish you all the very best for your married life together!

Pre-Finals Dinner Info

The Pre-Finals Dinner is this Thursday, and we’re sure you’ve all picked your outfits!

As we know umpires like being early, the doors will open at 6:45, to be seated at 7:15.

Entry to the Medallion Club is via Gate 9 and take the elevator to Level 2. For those coming on the train, stay to your left and walk around the ground past Gate 1 and the food shops. If coming by taxi (or limousine) go to Harbour Esplanade (AFL House) and walk up the stairs to your right.

Parking is available at the venue at standard prices, and is via Entry A (left ramp from Bourke St). Proceed to Gate 9, and catch the elevator to Level 2.

For further details on parking and gate location, please see the fact sheet below.

For final table requests please email [email protected], and we look forward to seeing you all there!
